Bere Island is an island in the west of County Cork. The island is also known as Bear Island. It is roughly 7 x 3 miles in dimension and has a population of 210.

Lies at the south-western tip of the Beara Peninsula. The island is separated from the mainland by a narrow stretch of water called Dursey Sound which has a very strong tidal race. This peaceful island is connected to the mainland by Ireland's only cable car, and the only cable car which goes over water in Europe spanning the sound that is one of its main attractions.

The licensed Car/Passenger ferry "Ikom K" operates a Daily Car Ferry Service to Bere Island, which is located off Castletownbere in Bantry Bay in the South-West corner of Ireland. A comprehensive sailing schedule is in operation all year round.
