15,000 EXPECTED AT FERMOYS WINTER WONDERLAND
As plans continue to bring the most exciting event ever to Fermoy, the promoters are hoping that the admission free event may attract crowds in excess of 15,000 over its three day run.
RTE television will broadcast ads for the spectacular event this month with the hope of attracting as many visitors to the town as possible over the three days.
The event, which takes place from Friday, December 17 to Sunday 19, has financial backing from Avondhu Blackwater Partnership, and will include an ice skating rink, tobogganing slope, Santa’s Grotto, among many other fantastic attractions.
And, if the cold spell continues there may even be some snow, which would certainly add to the festive cheer! The Avondhu spoke with Peter Kelly (aka Franc) who said that Fermoy town is the place to be for some good festive cheer to banish all the doom and gloom.
“This is very exciting for Fermoy, and we hope that it will encourage people to come and visit the town,” Peter commented this week.
Valerie Murphy CEO of Avondhu Blackwater Partnership told The Avondhu, “Since we announced the festival the amount of voluntary support and offers we have received is tremendous. We have at least 100 people willing to help out over the three days. There is a phenomenal spirit of giving which is amazing in these hard pressed times, and a great sense of unity and positivity.”
Valerie added, “There will be long term plans for the development of the festival over the next few years which will be of benefit to not only the Fermoy area but also Cork county as a whole.”
