Diarmuid Gavin to attend Fermoy community involvement conference
Avondhu Blackwater Partnership aims to show The Way Forward with a special conference titled just that next month.
Their hope is to motivate community groups to improve their local areas. They want to inspire and invigorate the public, encouraging their involvement in the planning and aesthetic development of their local communities.
The event is part of a national initiative and the culmination of 'Village Image', the three-year Rural Development Transnational Project, undertaken in conjunction with Noardwest Fryslan, the European partner company in the Firesland region of northern Holland. Representatives from the company will attend the conference.
A number of guest speakers are lined up, including renowned garden designer and television personality Diarmuid Gavin and Simon Wall, the Westport town architect who gave a most illumating talk last year in Fermoy on how the County Mayo town improved itself to be named 'The Best Small Town in Ireland to Live In' by the Irish Times.
Scheduled for the Corrin Event Centre, Fermoy on Wednesday, February 12th, anyone interested in attending is asked to register at www.tidiertowns.com. The event will run from 9am-4pm.
