FERMOY STORE OWNERS ANGRY OVER CLOSURE RUMOURS
The owners of a long established furniture store in Fermoy are angry over rumours that the shop is to close.
Dermot O’Mahony, proprietor of Denis O’Mahony’s Furniture, located on O’Neill Crowley Quay, Fermoy said that he is very frustrated at rumours which have started to affect business.
“A month or so ago these rumours were doing the rounds about a lot of businesses in the town so we didn’t take too much notice. It only really hit home when a fitter, out on a job recently, spoke with a lady who told him that her friend had said she needed carpets but she wouldn’t chance buying them from O’Mahony’s as she would have no comeback when we closed,” Dermot told The Avondhu.
“We want to set the record straight that we are very much open for business and have no intention of going anywhere.”
Denis O’Mahony & Sons first opened in Fermoy in 1950 and, in 1988, Dermot and his son-in-law Liam took over the reins. Since then they have become one of the leading furniture stores in the north Cork region, offering high quality furniture, carpets and bedding at very competitive prices.
