FLOOD ACTION GROUP CHAIRMAN HITS BACK AT MAYOR’S COMMENTS
The chairman of the Fermoy Flood Action Group, Liam Clancy has hit out this week at statements made is last week’s Avondhu by the town mayor, Cllr Michael Hanley. His statement reads: “Last week I bought The Avondhu and I could not believe what I saw: ‘Mayor furious as flood defences erected’ and the mayor called for these defences ‘to remain in place for the coming weeks’.
Is it sand bags that the mayor thinks he is dealing with? There is no way you could leave the flood barriers up for a couple of weeks. Trucks or cars could damage them. Does the mayor think that you could simply locate and replace a section of flood barrier in a shop ...
