High street fashion in Kilworth at Thursday's show
Many of us go shopping with an idea in mind - we want to come home with the perfect pair of jeans, the flattering dress or the 'wow' outfit, but alas, all too often, we come home dishevelled, cranky, disappointed and out of pocket from buying the wrong things.
Tonight's (Thursday, March 6) fashion show in the hall of Scoil Mhairtin in Kilworth aims to solve all of those problems, as audience members will benefit from tips and hints from stylist Sharon Huggard, while also watching parents and teachers strut their stuff down the catwalk, modelling clothes from the popular high street stores in Mahon Point Shopping Centre.
Event organiser, Marie Barry Murphy explained that she wanted to bring the high street labels and brands into the local school and on the night, Sharon Huggard will be giving people advice on what to wear for different body shapes, how to de-clutter etc. She will also be advising people on how to pick the perfect pair of jeans (that never ending dilemma for most women) and how to pick outfits that will bring you from day to night.
"A huge amount of work has gone into this and it's the very first time a fashion show has been run for the school, so there is a great buzz around the village," Marie added.
As well as seeing all of the style from Mahon Point, there will also be trade stands from local retailers and boutiques, which could see people making that high street outfit unique and different, by teaming it with something from a local boutique. On the night, be sure to get the glad rags out, as there will also be prizes for the best dressed lady and gent. Two lucky ladies will also be picked out to be styled over by Sharon Huggard on the night.
There will be an air of glamour and sophistication throughout the hall as Peter Kelly (aka Franc) has kindly donated the decor for the night, so there are some stunning details to feast your eyes on.
With a wine reception at 7.30pm, each guest will also go home with a great goody bag and will be entered into a free draw, where one of the top prizes is a two night stay in The International Hotel in Killarney.
The event is being run by the Parent's Association and they would urge all parents with kids in the school to support the event, but also people from the wider community to come along.
All of the money raised on the night will go back to the national school to go towards running costs, buses for school outings and to subsidise other costs in the school.
Tickets for €20 are available from the school, members of the Parent's Association and only a limited number will be available on the night, due to the popularity of the fashion show so far.
