Illegal dumping hits Fermoy
Illegal dumping of household rubbish on a street in Fermoy is causing consternation to local business owners.
This week and last bags of household rubbish were left on Abbey Street adjacent to rubbish skips belonging to paying business customers awaiting collection, presumably in the hope that they'd be collected too. The black sacks split however and their contents, including a quantity of soiled nappies, were left strewn around the road.
Local business owners have condemned the culprits for spoiling the appearance of the street which runs from McCurtain Street down to Ashe Quay and is a popular walkway and shortcut.
They are reporting the matter to the environment section of the county council in a bid to have the illegal dumping stopped and the culprit or culprits held accountable.
