JOB LOSS FEARS AT SCI
Speculation is mounting that a substantial number of jobs are to go at the Sanmina-SCI plant in Fermoy.
Sanmina-SCI’s contract manufacturing facility in Fermoy was established in 1989 by SCI and became Sanmina-SCI following the 2002 merger of Sanmina and SCI. It serves customers in both the electronics and medical technologies field.
The company had announced a €30million expansion of its facility in June of last year with the establishment of a research and development centre of engineering excellence that at the time promised the creation of 50 highly skilled engineering and professional jobs.
Despite sustained efforts, The Avondhu was unable to reach management at the Fermoy plant for comment on the speculation.
