Kilworth Festival goes green with EPA LAPN initiative
Kilworth Festival has joined the countrywide initiative co-ordinated by EPA/LAPN to make festivals greener. Kilworth Festival Committee will, together with the Village Renewal group, aim to make the festival week as enviromentally friendly as possible. Special waste bins will be available during the main events; these will aim to divide waste properly and will, through special signage, aim to educate us all in the appropriate way to dispose of rubbish. Village Renewal and Tidy Towns personnel will be on hand during the day to promote keeping our village clean.
Cian O'Meara's and the O'Meara's Dental Clinic in Fermoy have kindly sponsored this initiative which has allowed us to provide compostable cups and napkins for the tea party (these Irish-produced cups can go in with food waste and will decompose within 90 days). On the day we hope we will all learn a little more about how we should manage our waste.
One of our stories at the kids' storytelling is about the Polar Bears and will encourage children to look after the environment. We also believe that a certain unwelcome Mr Smelly Pollution will visit and it's up to the kids to stop him dropping papers,so we need your help to chase this litter lout out of the village. If you help us pick up the papers he drops, you will get an eco friendly badge. If you are good with putting your litter in the bin you will also get the badge, so make sure mammy, daddy friends and family take care of Kilworth and don't drop any papers.
This is a new project and we will do our best, with your help, to make Kilworth Festival go green.
