OLD FCI SITE IN FERMOY MAY BE NEW LOCATION FOR GAELSCOIL
There’s speculation in Fermoy this week that the former FCI factory site is being strongly considered as a location for a permanent building for Gaelscoil de hIde. The present school in MacCurtain Street, with 382 pupils, is full to capacity.
The Department of Education sought the assistance of and has been working with Cork County Council to identify and acquire a suitable site for the new school. The Avondhu has learned that a proposal has been put forward by a Carrigtwohill based company to redevelop the former FCI premises to provide a new 24 classroom school.
