SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT MISSING FROM ACCOUNT AS CREDIT CARD ROBBED MISSING
Gardai in Fermoy are looking for 3 people after a middle-aged lady had her credit card stolen in the town last Monday.
It is believed that the victim was followed and that the culprits managed to see her pin number while observing her using her card. The victim was then stopped by two men and one woman and asked for directions. Gardai believe that the cards were stolen at this point and have confirmed that a substantial amount of money was taken from the woman’s accounts.
“The card was used at two shops in Fermoy and Glanmire and once again in Dublin on the following day,” a Garda spokesman told The Avondhu. The culprits were seen by CCTV in the town and Gardai are following a definite line of enquiry.
“We would strongly advise people to shield their pin numbers when they are at the cash machine or using their cards in shops. Be aware of who is standing behind you and contact the Gardai immediately if you observe anything out of the ordinary when using your cash or credit cards,” the Garda spokesman concluded.
Anybody with information should contact the Gardai at Fermoy on 025-82100.
