TJ Dowling beats Goggins to take snooker invitational in Fermoy
T.J. Dowling was the man left standing at the end of a hugely exciting Cross Invitational Snooker Tournament, held in the CYM&WS Hall, Fermoy last weekend.
The competition served up some outstanding bouts of play with Dowling and his great rival Rodney Goggins, battling it out for ultimate honours in Sunday evening's decider. This was a nip and tuck contest which went down to the wire, with Dowling eventually getting the upper hand on a 5-4 scoreline.
For his trouble, T.J. picked up the Michael Hickey Cross Invitational Perpetual Cup, along with the winner's cheque for €500. The final was refereed by international official, Don O'Donoghue.
Organisationally, the tournament was an outstanding success for the host club, Fermoy, and great credit is due to chairman, Daithi Whelan and his committee for the work they put in.
Club PRO, William Hughes, praised everyone involved. He said feedback from the event had been very positive. With the tournament behind them and Autumn closing in, Fermoy Snooker Club are expecting things to get very busy in the weeks and months ahead.
