Access to the Monastic City: The monuments and lakes are accessible all year round at anytime of the day however the car parks may have the barrier down early in the morning and late in the evening. There is no charge to see the Monastic sites(churches/round tower) or the Upper and Lower Lakes except the car park fees for the Upper Lake and the Visitor Centre at the Monastic Site. Visitors are advised not to leave valuables in their cars, especially in the more remote locations. Parking in Glendalough and the surrounding area.

Dogs are welcome in Glendalough but MUST be kept on leads at all times(wildlife conservation area) and owners are to dispose of any dirt responsibly.

There are toilet facilities for public use at the Monastic Site (Visitor Centre) and also at the Upper Lake Car Park area. (closed now at 4pm for the winter months)

First Aid facilities, including an AED (defibrillator) are available at the Information Office/Brockagh Resource Centre and at the Laragh petrol station 1.5km from Glendalough. Other emergency services may also be alerted from here.

There are no ATM  in Glendalough but is an ATM  Laragh village at the petrol station inside the Shop(opening hours only). The next nearest ATM is outside the bank in Rathdrum (24 hours)  or inside the Centra shop in Roundwood (opening hours only).

The Glendalough Valley is open all year round but there are planned events on certain dates that may slow down traffic or entry time for visitors to the Glendalough Valley:

Wicklow Mountains National Park

The Glendalough Valley is located in the Wicklow Mountains National Park and has many attractions to entice visitors, from its world famous Monastic Site with Round Tower to its scenic lakes and valleys, as well as a selection of walks and trails in the area including The Wicklow Way.
