Delay in eircom broadband upgrades in Mitchelstown
Eircom customers in Mitchelstown face a wait to have superfast fibre broadband enabled in their area.
In recent months a number of towns in Cork county have seen the rollout of eircom’s 100Mb eFibre broadband, including Fermoy, Rathcormac, Mallow and Glanmire.
A spokesperson for Eircom said no official date for upgrades in Mitchelstown has been set, although it should occur ‘before the end of the year’.
Managing director of eircom’s consumer division, Kevin White said he expects ‘the service will be rolled out to additional areas in Cork very soon’.
Speaking on what eircom customers can expect from the superfast broadband, which is up to four times faster than that currently available in many Cork towns, Mr White said: “The increased speeds of up to 100Mb will mean that more and more customers will be able to experience superior online experiences.
“Users can log onto their favourite websites at the same time, download music in seconds, stream movies without buffering, video chat without dropping out and gamers can enjoy an uninterrupted online experience.”
