Elvis rumbles at fundraiser in The Ramble, Mitchelstown
Elvis Presley is very much alive in the hearts of the public, judging by the attendance and reaction at last Saturday night's gig in The Ramble Inn, Mitchelstown.
The tribute night, which doubled as a fundraiser for 'Katie's Dream To Walk', was a massive success with several versions of Elvis playing a selection of his many chart topping tunes. 'Katie's Dream To Walk' is a campaign to raise €60,000 for 7-year-old Cobh girl, Katie Byrne - Katie has cerebral palsy and an operation, which can only be carried out in the USA, would make it possible for her to walk.
TARGET NEARLY REACHED
Katie's father, Robert, who attended the show, said he was very impressed and extremely grateful to the people of Mitchelstown and surrounding areas for supporting the fundraiser.
"There has been a wonderful response to the campaign and we are within touching distance of our target, The Ramble Inn did a great job hosting tonight's event," Robert said.
And few could argue with that, the Elvis impersonators were excellent and special mention must be made of the costumes which, we were told, are identical in every detail to the iconic clothing worn by 'The King'. Also well done to John Carey and his staff for looking after everyone so well.
