IT'S ALL WORTH IT AS WILD LIFE KING TIM SCOOPS 10,000 AND A HOLIDAY
From the wilds of Fota to the African plains, Mitchelstown bricklayer, Tim White has shown that he has the right stuff when it comes to living the wild life.
Tim was crowned King of the Wild Life on Cork’s RedFM and Fota Wildlife Park this week and scooped a prize of €10,000 and a trip for two to Zambia with Travel4Change.ie. for his trouble.
After spending eight nights sleeping in a tent at the wildlife park Tim was delighted when he won the prize.
“All the shovelling animal dung, learning African drumming routines and even cleaning out chicken carcasses to feed the resident cheetahs in Fota was worth it for this trip of a lifetime. I had to eat raw cow’s liver, crickets and worms but it was a great experience,” Tim told The Avondhu.
As well as the trip for two to Zambia Tim also collected a cheque for €10,000.
“No matter how cold it got, the 10 grand was in the back of my head and that kept me going. I would like to thank everybody for all their support, all my family and friends and especially my girlfriend, Joanne McCarthy,” Tim said.
Tim plans to use the cash sensibly and put it towards building a house. While in Zambia Tim will take part in building a school with Travel4change.ie.
“I’m delighted to be able to help out in Zambia and it is a great opportunity for me,” he said.
Travel4change is an Irish tour operator specializing in responsible tourism that will have a positive impact on the lives of local communities. It gives the participant the opportunity to experience all that Africa has to offer and to be involved in a community project. Tim’s grandfather, local community activist Timmy ‘Rancher’ White, is very proud of his grandson.
“He did us all proud and I wish him all the best for his holiday, ”he told The Avondhu. Tim will be heading off to Zambia with his girlfriend Joanne in six weeks time.
