MITCHELSTOWN CLINIC TO TREAT INJURED SPORTS STARS
The Livinghealth Clinic in Mitchelstown, which opened its doors to patients on Monday, November 25, has announced details of its dedicated sports injury clinic that will be headed up by sports physician Dr Eanna Falvey. The sports injury clinic will also work closely with the Livinghealth gym situated on-site.
Dr Falvey has worked with both the Munster and Irish rugby teams; he also spent a number of years specialising in sorts medicine at the University of Melbourne. A former amateur boxing champion and UCC graduate Falvey is currently working at the sports surgery clinic in Santry.
“This is a superb facility and a perfect location,” Dr Falvey said on the new clinic. He went on to say, “It will be an exciting new venture for me, having radiology and diagnostics on site and Barry Vaughan working on the strength and conditioning side through the Livinghealth gym. I can see Mitchelstown becoming a regional centre for sport. This is an ideal opportunity to establish close links between the new state of the art Livinghealth Clinic and the expert sport orthopedic service available at Santry.”
Barry Vaughan, strength and conditioning coach who will head up the Livinghealth gym told The Avondhu, “Having someone of the experience and caliber of Eanna on board will really add to what we are doing here in Mitchelstown.
"Between us we have worked across all sports at provincial and inter county level and I am sure players would much prefer to stay in the region as opposed to having to travel to Dublin for regular treatment. This will also be a great resource for clubs and their members from all codes in Munster.”
The Livinghealth gym set to open shortly will be offering full membership. There is also a studio that will be available for classes, and members will be able to avail of the expertise of Barry Vaughan and his team. Vouchers are currently available for the perfect Christmas gift.
A GP led initiative, situated at the crossroads of Munster, the Livinghealth Clinic involves an investment of €10 million in a 30,000sq.ft. state of the art building in Mitchelstown. A health screening unit and a full complement of ancillary health care professionals including physiotherapy, speech therapy, dietetics, psychology, counseling and podiatry will be available to all.
The site also has a cafe, pharmacy, opticians and full membership gymnasium with personal training and specialist sports injury clinic. The HSE will also have services on site and there is extensive onsite parking.
