MITCHELSTOWN MAST DECISION THIS WEEK
A decision by An Bord Pleanala on a controversial mobile phone mast in the centre of Mitchelstown is due this week. The mast, erected on the premises of Mrs Quinn’s Charity Shop by the landlord of the premises, led to the formation of the Concerned Residents Against Mitchelstown Mast (CRAMM) and there was widespread objections from people and businesses of the town.
The long running dispute culminated in Cork County Council eventually granting the mast planning permission, which CRAMM have appealed to An Bord Pleanala. Derek Riordan, CRAMM chairman previously told The Avondhu that he believes the group have a good chance of seeing the Cork County Council’s decision overturned, as the council engineer advised against the decision.
Only the 30 or so individuals who appealed the mast at county council level were in a position to bring a case to An Bord Pleanala.
