MORE TICKETS ON THE WAY FOR ILLEGAL PARKING
There are more parking tickets on the way for those who parking illegally in Mitchelstown.
Council officials have told The Avondhu that some motorists are removing parking tickets from their cars and continuing to park illegally in the same spot week after week.
One trader, who parks near the pedestrian crossing and sells his potatoes, fruit and garden produce on the main street off the Square, has been receiving parking tickets every week.
"The individual concerned has received a parking ticket each Thursday and it has been conveyed to him that he will receive a parking ticket every two hours from now on if he continues to park illegally in Mitchelstown”, Brendan O’Gorman, senior engineer with Cork County Council, told The Avondhu.
Mr O’Gorman also said that he could not confirm if the individual involved has paid the parking tickets he has received over the past weeks.
“The allegations that there is an inconsistency with issuing parking ticket is incorrect, just because a car has no parking ticket on it doesn’t mean one hasn’t been issued. The car owners remove many parking tickets. Mitchelstown has two hours free parking and, after that, if you are parked illegally, you will receive a ticket”, Mr O’Gorman confirmed.
