SHANRAHAN CEMETERY TO BE EXTENDED
South Tipp County Council is to provide an extension to Shanrahan Cemetery, Clogheen allowing for 425 extra grave spaces. The news has been warmly welcomed by Cllr Marie Murphy, who said the extension of the cemetery ‘is clearly the wish of the local people’.
At the monthly meeting held on January 7, the council gave notice that it is proposed to extend the existing burial ground at Shanrahan. Other than the removal of the boundary wall, no works to the existing burial grounds are proposed.
The proposed development will provide for 425 grave spaces or burial plots; the erection of appropriate boundary treatment; the provision of internal footpaths and headstone foundations and the provision of ancillary works.
