YOUTH CAFE OPENING FOR SNEAK PREVIEW
This Friday will mark a significant night in Mitchelstown. Not only will the town be a virtual hive of activity with people gathering to see the Christmas lights being turned on and take part in the festive celebration but, after many years of planning and hard work, the young people of Mitchelstown will finally be able to see what their new Youth Cafe looks like.
Opening its doors for the first time, the Mitchelstown Youth Cafe is inviting teenagers and their parents to come along and see what’s on offer in Upper Cork Street.
“This is the first night that we will be open to the public and we are inviting everybody along to see just what the Youth Cafe is all about. No Way Home will be providing the music from 6.30pm so why not come along and see what it’s all about,” Ailbe Coleman of the youth committee told The Avondhu.
Adult volunteers have been training over the past months and now everything is in place for the Youth Cafe to open.
“The cafe will be officially open on Friday, December 11 from 5pm to 9pm for 15 to 17 year olds and on Saturday 12 from 5pm to 9pm for 12, 13 and 14 year olds. We would also like to see the Youth Cafe as a venue for local bands and the facilities here can also be used by other community groups,” Ailbe concluded.
