Welcome to Donegal, County Donegal
Donegal (Dún na nGall) is town in County Donegal in the North-West of Ireland. Although taking the name of the county, the county town is Lifford and largest town in Donegal is Letterkenny.
There is evidence for settlements around the town dating back to prehistoric times including the remains of round forts and other earth works. The town has the castle and Franciscan abbey dating to the 15th century.
There are many sandy beaches in Donegal, and with it's exposure to the Atlantic offers excellent surfing conditions.
