Welcome to Bantry, County Cork

Bantry (Beanntraí) is a town on the coast of County Cork, located at the head of Bantry Bay. The Beara peninsula is to the northwest, with Sheep's Head also nearby, on the peninsula south of Bantry Bay. There is a regular bus service from Cork City to Bantry which takes less than 1.5 hours.

As with many areas on Ireland's south-west coast, Bantry claims an ancient connection to the sixth century saint, Brendan the Navigator. In Irish lore Saint Breandán was the first person to discover America.

In recent years Bantry has become renowned for its excellent nearby surfing beaches and it's annual Mussel Fair held in May.
