Limerick (Luimneach) lies in the mouth of the River Shannon with 3 major bridging points in or near the town.

The city dates back to the Vikings in 812.  Limerick now has a large amount of industry and has a vibrant nightlife, with numerous nightclubs.  The city also has a large student population with 3 third level institutions in the city, including the University of Limerick (UL).
