Wednesday evening 6th April 2005 saw the launch of the Tommy Byrne Photographic Society in Arklow's Royal Hotel. In our first year we went from strength to strength.

From small beginnings in The Royal, growing and then moving across to The Bridge Hotel (due to the closure of the Royal) we've held many events throughout our first few years such as a Poker Classic, Summer Balls, weekly/biweekly projects, regular Tutorial Classes & Exams, local and national competitions, local and national exhibitions, website launch, not forgetting to mention the massive help and time members have given to discussions, lectures, slideshows and educational sessions. Without our members and our hosts we wouldn't exist and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them all very sincerely.

With a common interest in all things photographic the knowledge base here is as wide as it is varied. Sharing this information enables members, especially the novices, in creating a platform from which to start from and build on. An emphasis on regular use of your camera, becoming familiar with it and it's functions, is stressed with special assignments set each week and practical sessions either out about town or in 'studio'. Regardless off your abilities you will learn something new here or at the very least be inspired to try something different!

You can catch up with some of our work in the Arklow Business Enterprise Centre, Kilbride Industrial Estate, where we have two permanent exhibition spaces. At the moment we run two exhibitions annually: April & September. There is no charge and you will be most welcome there.
