Chiropractic is a health care profession that specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions which are due to mechanical dysfunction of the joints and muscles and the effect this has on the nervous system. It's primarily focused on the spine, but here at Lucan Chiropractic we look at the whole body and could easily focus on the feet, knees, or neck.  It is a safe and effective form of treatment for both adults and children of all ages.

Chiropractors use gentle and specific techniques to align the joints and therefore restore normal movement, nerve and muscle function.  The chiropractic adjustment is effective for relieving pain and reducing muscle spasm, as well as helping restricted joints to move better. The technique used by your chiropractor will depend on your age, condition and comfort level. Chiropractic can range from gentle hands on techniques to instrument and table assisted techniques.  Depending on your condition, your chiropractor may manipulate parts of your spine or joints in addition to giving you advice on exercise, self-help, diet and lifestyle. Where necessary we will also offer rehabilitation programmes and exercises.

Chiropractic

Your first visit

Upon arrival you will be greeted by our friendly reception team and asked to complete some paperwork.  They will be happy to show you to our waiting room and answer any questions you may have at this stage.

When ready you will meet our chiropractor Dr Clíodhna Walsh DC.  Dr Clíodhna will guide you to the treatment room and there she will go over your paperwork and ask some further questions in order to get a complete case history.  

Following this she will perform a thorough examination and then discuss her findings.

​

Dr Clíodhna will clearly explain the diagnosis and treatment plan proposed, along with the associated risks and expected benefits of care.  If you would like to begin care, you will be asked to sign a consent form and treatment can begin straight away.

​

In the event, your condition is not suitable for treatment we may ask you to attend your GP surgery for further investigation or we may refer you for further imaging like x-rays or MRI to help gain a clearer understanding of the complaint.  

​

We will of course be happy to answer any questions you may have at any point during the consultation.

Your next visit

On your second visit we will be sure to discuss the details of your first visit and clarify anything you are unsure of.  We will then move on to the adjustment/ treatment.  Usually this appointment is much more straight forward and takes less time than the first.  

Dry needling

Dry needling will be performed only after a complete examination as part of your treatment plan, and if beneficial to your complaint. It may not be suitable for people with certain health conditions or for those taking specific medications.

Duration  & Prices

Initial consultations last approximately 45 minutes and are priced at €75

All subsequent treatments last between 15-20 minutes and are priced at €50

Reassessment - Necessary for an existing client who has not attended the clinic in over 12 months are priced at €65
