The committee has its origins back in 1985, when a group of local businessmen got together to discuss ways of boosting tourism in the Strandhill area. The idea for a mid-summers festival was mooted and decided upon. But they needed one major event that had to be the climax of this festival and this was to be, The Warriors Run.
