CAVANAGH SEE OFF THE COMPETITION AT ST COLMANS GOLF CLASSIC
St Colman’s College Fermoy Past Pupils Union (PPU) held its annual golf classic at Fermoy Golf Club on Thursday, July 7 and Friday, July 8. 2011 was the 27th year that St. Colman’s PPU have held its golf classic which raises funding and support for the students of St Colman’s College.
“This year’s golf classic was rained off two weeks previously but luckily the weather was kind to us last week. Fermoy Golf Club was once again in immaculate condition and their hosting of this annual event is greatly appreciated.
"For many years, ALLIANZ has been the main sponsor of the event and this year was no different - their continued support is essential in the running of the event and all at St Colman’s PPU would like to express their thanks and gratitude. Also, thanks goes to all those that sponsored the prizes and entered teams,” Ken Barry told The Avondhu.
Almost 40 teams participated in the golf classic. “Our thanks must also go out to our local community, businesses and past pupils who without fail show their support year in year out -thank you one and all,” Ken Barry told The Avondhu.
Scoring was very competitive on the day and the eventual winners were Cavanaghs followed by Colaiste an Chraoibhin and in third place Micro Bio.

1st Cavanaghs - K Anderson, J Baker, D O’Donoghue, P Howard, 73pts; 2nd Colaiste an Chraoibhin - J Kenny, M Kenny, R O’Connor, St J O’Connor, 70pts; 3rd Micro Bio (O Doyle, J O’Keeney, R Kelly, J Quirke, 69pts.
Nearest the Pin competition on hole 15 was won by John O’Sullivan (The Grand Hotel team).
