FERMOY TRAFFIC PLAN PROPOSALS DOWN FOR DISCUSSION
The proposed draft traffic management plan for Fermoy is to be discussed at a joint meeting of the Enterprise Board and Fermoy Business Association on Tuesday night next, July 8 in the Grand Hotel.
The proposed plan, which has met with a varied local reaction, was unveiled to the public in May. Cllr Michael Hanley at the time expressed concerns that the one way system proposed down the quay in Fermoy would throw all the traffic onto the square and cause problems.
He also raised the issue of car parking especially in Pearse Square, where it is proposed that the herringbone parking spaces should be replaced by a parallel system.
“We need to maximise the number of car parking spaces and the herringbone system is the best option for that area", Cllr Hanley concluded.
The meeting on Tuesday night, which starts at 8pm and is for the business community only, will be addressed by Sean McCarthy B.E. who will make a presentation on the plan.
This will be followed by a question and answer session.
