NEW OWNER FOR CO-OP STORE
There is growing speculation in Fermoy this week that a new owner has emerged for the former co-op store on Patrick Street.
The Avondhu has learned that the building has been, or is currently in the process of being purchased by a well known businessperson in the town.
While the reported purchase of the building has yet to be confirmed, it is understood that a nationwide retailer is considering opening an outlet in the town.
“It would be very good indeed for the town if the building has, in fact, been sold. I hope that the rumours are true and I look forward to seeing a new business coming to Fermoy in the near future,” Cllr Noel McCarthy said.
One retailer mentioned as a possible tenant for the co-op store is Heatons, who already have stores in Mallow and Clonmel.
