Welcome to Athenry

Athenry (Baile Átha an Rí) is an agricultural town in county Galway. It lies 25 km to the east of and is famous for the song, The Fields of Athenry which often graces Irish sporting events.

Athenry began as a Dominican Abbey in 1241 before being sacked by Cromwellians.
