Welcome to Galway City

Galway (Gaillimh) is the only city in the province of Connacht and the fourth largest in the Republic of Ireland.

The city also bears the nickname city of the Tribes because fourteen tribes (merchant families) led the town in Norman times.

Galway is often referred to as the Irish City of Culture and recently opened a city museum; it hosts annual music and arts festivals.
