ALL SET FOR FERMOY ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE
The St. Patrick’s Day committee in Fermoy have plans for this year’s parade well advanced. At an announcement in The Grand Hotel this Wednesday evening, January 30, they even revealed that they’ve picked their grand marshal. They plan to tie the event in with The Gathering, adopting it as their theme for the parade and are adding an extra dimension by having events on the Saturday night around Fermoy, the evening before the parade.
“Over the past ten or twenty years many people have switched away from dining and drinking out to entertaining at home. The big advantage of this is obviously the cost, but the big disadvantage is the loss of convivial contact with old friends,” Donal O Lochlainn, secretary of the committee pointed out.
The committee is urging all to ask their families and friends home for St. Patrick’s weekend and partake in the parties and the parade.
