ANOTHER MILITARY BLOW FOR FERMOY
A major row is brewing over the shock decision to move the Fermoy Reserve Defence Forces training facilities to Mallow. The decision has come as an unpleasant surprise to many Fermoy members, who understood Fermoy was being retained following the independent ‘Value for Money’ review of the Defence Forces.
News that the RDF will no longer have a training location in Fermoy was confirmed to The Avondhu on Wednesday by Commandant Denis Hanly of the Defence Forces press office.
He said it was being done under the reorganisation of the RDF and that personnel currently based in Fermoy, can express their preference for where they want to continue their service. The two closest locations are Mallow and Cork city ...
