ARSON: GRAVE OF YOUNG ACCIDENT VICTIM BURNED IN HORROR ATTACK
The grave of a young Castlelyons man tragically killed in a car crash five years ago has been horrifically desecrated in an arson attack. Michael Murphy of Main Street, Castlelyons was a rear seat passenger in a car that lost control and hit the pillar of a wall at Strawhall, Fermoy on the August bank holiday Sunday in 2007.
He was 22 at the time. His friend, James Sexton, aged 19, also from Castlelyons, was killed in the crash as well. Since his tragic death, Michael’s mother Mary has been in the habit of visiting his grave several times a day, and on Tuesday of last week, September 18th, she went to the cemetery at 2.30 in the afternoon.
