CASTLETOWNROCHE COCK-A-HOOP AT ANTI LITTER SUCCESS
Castletownroche will contest the final of the Cork County Litter Challenge having won the North Cork divisional final. The village beat off the challenge from Kiskeam and Bartlemy to make the grand final, scoring 96 marks with judges to pip second placed Kiskeam to the title by a single mark.
“The committee are delighted with the win, we want to thank everyone for all their hard work over the past number of weeks. Our workers, volunteers, the public, everyone has been great in helping out,” Nora Ahern, secretary of the Castletownroche Tidy Towns committee told The Avondhu.
Nora added that while the group first believed that the final would be judged between July 13-17, correspondence with the Environmental Division of Cork County Council, who judge the prize, has indicated that no final decision has been made on when judging will take place.
Castletownroche Tidy Towns committee have asked people in the locality to remain vigilant regardless and will indicate when the final takes place as soon as they are informed.
