FERMOY BAND’S MAGNIFICENT DOUBLE
Members of Fermoy Concert Band are cock-a-hoop following a magnificent double at last weekend’s national band championships in the University of Limerick music hall.
Known to generations of Fermoy people as Fermoy Confraternity Band, this talented group of musicians took first place in section 3 as well as capturing the ‘Best Choice’ award for their performance of ‘Odyssey’. For many younger members it was their first taste of success and they took particular pride in showing off the winning cups.
Based in the CYMS Hall in Fermoy, the band are going from strength to strength under the guidance of their highly rated conductor Ruairi Dineen.
Already back rehearsing, Fermoy Concert Band are busy preparing for a concert in Christ Church, Fermoy on Monday, May 5.
