A fantastic new facility designed to give optimum patient care is how the recently completed 30 bed unit adjacent to St. Patrick’s Community Hospital, Fermoy is being described.
Out of bounds to the public for the duration of its construction, the new wing is now complete and patients will move in shortly – the first group coming from the middle and top floors of the ‘Sonas’ block (part of the existing hospital).
Last Monday’s open day attracted a steady stream of interested visitors and hospital staff, including acting matron, Annette Clancy, were on hand to provide a guided tour.
Fitted out with the latest medical device gadgetry the new rooms are patient friendly and will provide very pleasant surroundings to residents and their families.
Tom Higgins, chairman of the hospital’s fundraising committee, said it was great to see the new building fully operational, he went on to confirm that the reaction to it was extremely positive.
While the committee had worked hard to advance the project Tom said a huge amount of credit was due to the many individuals and groups who had contributed so generously to the fundraising campaign.
