FERMOY HOTEL PLANS TO BE UNVEILED
It has this week emerged that draft plans for a new hotel in Fermoy are to be unveiled at a forthcoming meeting between the developers, Lawton Development, and the local UDC.
A letter addressed recently by the developers to the town mayor, Tadhg O’Donovan and the other eight councillors states that the draft site layout drawings for the development will be made available at a meeting to be held between the two parties.
The drawings of the hotel and the housing proposed for the Fermoy site will be provided as a courtesy to the request, coming from the councillors, to see the plans for the development in order to make the decision process possible.
In the same letter, the developers request that a date for a meeting be agreed upon among the councillors so that the plans can be discussed further. A date for this meeting has yet to be decided, as some of the members of town council executive are on summer holidays.
“It is important that the town clerk and manager are present for the discussions. Whatever date we get, we want everyone present. We want the date to be accessible to all councillors,” said Mayor Tadhg O’Donovan.
He also emphasised the significance of the project and that a conclusion needed to be reached at the earliest possible time. Mayor O’Donovan welcomed the announcement as he views the development as a, ‘commitment to the process’.
