FERMOY HOUSES TARGETED BY VANDALS
Residents of St Mary’s Terrace in Fermoy are calling on the town council to complete the work on the vacant houses in their area before there is a serious accident.
“There are homes in the terrace that are unoccupied and need work before they can be allocated by the council. Unfortunately, the houses have become a target for anti-social behaviour and a lot of damage has been caused” Cllr Seamus Coleman told The Avondhu this week.
Fencing that was erected by the council has been damaged and the windows and doors of most of the vacant homes have been smashed.
“I am calling on the council to at least make the area more secure, the residents of this area deserve to know that their community is safe and the council needs to act now before someone is hurt,” Cllr Coleman continued.
An outside tap that was installed by the council has also been vandalised.
“The tap has been left turned on numerous times and has caused flooding, the council need to sort out the houses and allocate them or make the area more secure,” Cllr Coleman concluded.
