FERMOY TIDY TOWNS SHOCK OVER FUNDING SHORTFALL
The Fermoy Tidy Towns group has warned of possible public protest following a move by Fermoy Town Council to release just €15,000 from an available fund of over €22,000 for the ambitious Fermoy enhancement plan.
Speaking this week Tidy Towns chairman, Noel McCarthy said that members of the Fermoy group were shocked and saddened by the decision to withhold a total of €7,700 from the funding which they had expected to receive this month.
“At the September meeting of Fermoy Town Council it was agreed that the handover figure would be €22,700 and that this would be invested in the enhancement project. This is a major shortfall,” Noel McCarthy suggested.
