FINAL DECISION ON FERMOY WELFARE HOME JUST DAYS AWAY
After months of campaigning a final decision on the future of St Francis’ Welfare Home in Fermoy could now be just a matter of days away, as a delegation from the St Francis’ Home action committee made a final mission of mercy to Dublin to meet with officials from the Department of Health at the Dail on Wednesday evening.
The four-person deputation was led by committee PRO, Cllr Tadhg O’Donovan, and included county councillor Frank O’Flynn, alongside Fermoy town councillors Aileen Pyne and Seamus Coleman. They were joined by Deputy Tom Barry and Youghal TD, Sandra McLellan.

Speaking to The Avondhu following the meeting with the minister’s private secretary Mark Faughnan, Cllr O’Donovan said that he seemed very sympathetic to their case….
