MAJOR RETAILER TO SET UP IN FERMOY?
Speculation is rife in Fermoy with unconfirmed reports that a major retailer is about to set up business in the town.
The Avondhu has learned that a German multiple may soon be applying for planning permission for a store in Fermoy.
“I haven’t heard it confirmed but anything that brings greater choice for the people of Fermoy and the surrounding area is always to be welcomed,” Mayor Pa O’Driscoll told The Avondhu.
When asked if Aldi were in fact preparing to set up a new store in Fermoy a spokesperson for the company said that they had ‘no comment’ to make at this time.
“I hope that Aldi or, indeed, any other company would consider Fermoy as an ideal place to set up business. And, I would welcome any development that would bring jobs and a wider range of goods to the people of the town,” Cllr Noel McCarthy said.
