MCCARTHY INSURANCE GROUP GOING FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH
McCarthy Insurance Group, who this year celebrated 56 years in business in Fermoy, have reassured customers that they are to maintain their local offices in light of the recent decision by the FBD Insurance group to close their centre in the town.
“This year we have increased our workforce by over 20 people and opened four new offices in Munster - we must be doing something right,” chairman Charles McCarthy said to The Avondhu.
“My father and mother founded this business in 1952 and traded as McGrath & Co. Back then and throughout the sixties Fermoy had more banks and insurance company offices than you have in Cork city today, however in hard times they all packed up and left.
“My parents saw that local people needed a local service and since the day they opened the door the business has flourished. We have seen them come and go - PMPA, ICI and Royal Liver, just to mention a few, but we are here for the long haul,” Mr McCarthy said.
“This has never been as true as it is in 2008. People still want to deal with people for peace of mind, not websites or call centres. Yes there is a place for those services but in our experience our clients in Munster prefer a personal service. They want to ‘put a face on a voice’ and ‘see the white of your eyes’. The majority of our business clients want to meet us at their premises or at one of our 14 offices in Munster.
“We will be offering consumers even more choice in January when we launch the Hibernian/AVIVA Health product range in The Avondhu area. We will be offering consumers currently with VHI and Quinn up to 20% discount and during January and February we will be offering huge cashback incentives on car, home travel and life products to first time customers of Hibernian/AVIVA Health.
“Our sponsorship in The Avondhu region, is second to none because we believe in supporting the local communities that support us,” Mr McCarthy said, adding that McCarthy Insurance Group offer policies and quotations from over 80 different insurers.
