NESSIE SETS FERMOY PULSES RACING!
The Loch Ness monster may have been put on the backburner somewhat over recent years but it now appears that we might well have our own particular version of ‘Nessie’ on the River Blackwater at Fermoy.
Local cameraman, John John Cahill contacted The Avondhu after he discovered there was something ‘unusual’ in one of the photos he had taken.
“I am a member of the Fermoy Amateur Photography Club and I was out taking pictures the weekend of March 25. I went for a stroll down Barnane Walk and started snapping the river and some people out rowing. I’d say I took a few hundred photos, and it was only when I went home and loaded the images on the computer that I saw this rather strange scene.”
A VANISHING MONSTER
John John added that he had taken numerous photos following this one and there was nothing visible with the image appearing to have vanished.
“I don’t know what it is. I spoke with a few local fishermen and they said that if it was a pike, then they don’t really fancy heading back out on the water with something that size in it.”
There’s no clear description of the ‘monster’ and there haven’t been any grim tales of ducks or swans being sucked into the water, never to be seen again. Many observers who have seen the photo believe it to be some sort of large fish or possibly a heron but there’s also the hint of a good old fashioned mystery.
