PHASE 1 OF FLOOD RELIEF PROJECT DUE FOR SUMMER COMPLETION
It is more and more evident with each passing day that work is progressing apace on the Fermoy flood relief scheme with an anticipated completion date of June this year.
Work on the site was slightly delayed by the bad weather that plagued Fermoy and the rest of the country during the winter months.
Commenting on the progress of the scheme, OPW spokesperson Kevin Kennedy told The Avondhu: “Regarding progress on site: the major reinforced concrete walls and earthen embankments are substantially complete at this stage (walls - 70%, embankments - 75%). Services diversions and associated works on the R639 and the N72 roads are due for completion at the end of April. Pipe-laying is ongoing on Rathealy Road and is now 70% completed.”
Tenders for the site investigation for Phase 2 of the project are also being assessed at the moment.
