RUMOURS DISPELLED, AS FERMOY GETS READY TO ‘LIGHT UP’
The Christmas grinch will not be paying a visit to Fermoy this year after all. Unlike the town in the Dr. Seuss story, Fermoy will, contrary to some rumours circulating in the town, have Christmas lights and decorations this year, according to Cllr Noel McCarthy.
“I can assure the people of Fermoy that there will be an abundance of Christmas spirit in the town this year despite any rumours that are circulating at the moment.”
Many Fermoy residents contacted The Avondhu this week concerned at a rumour that was about the town, which seemed to suggest that the town would have no Christmas lights or decorations this year because of the worsening economic situation.
The councillors have been meeting at the behest of the Mayor, Cllr Pa O’Driscoll to discuss ideas and plans to help the town get through the current difficulties.
“The meetings have been very positive and we will continue to get together outside the scheduled council meetings to prepare for the coming budget. But, I can confirm that Fermoy will have Christmas lights and decoration this Christmas,” Cllr McCarthy said.
