Safety barriers removed and dumped in Fermoy Town Park
Heavy duty plastic barriers used to cordon off a stretch of footpath on the Mallow Road, adjacent to the town park in Fermoy where there's a safety issue, were removed and dumped in the park over the weekend.
Cork County Council recently took the decision to prevent access to the general public when a safety issue was discovered on that stretch of cantilevered footpath. It's been closed off until repairs can be made. The repairs are to be funded by the NRA but no timeframe has been given to the county council for the works. There is an alternative footpath across the road which pedestrians can use.
The removal of the barriers from the site over the weekend exposed pedestrians to a safety risk and those responsible have been condemned by a member of the public, who observed council workers retrieving and replacing the barriers on Monday.
