THOUSANDS ATTEND MOOREPARK EVENT
It may have had a 10am kick off time but the crowds were gathering long before that.
Thousands of farmers and their families, attended Wednesday’s open day at Teasgasc Moorepark which had ‘Planning for 2015’ as its theme.
An event of this scale requires military style planning and we saw plenty evidence of this during the course of the morning. Incidentally the Irish army were in Moorepark last week on a bridge building exercise over the River Funcheon.
With the type of acreage available to it, Moorepark must have the biggest ‘field style’ car park in Ireland – all cars were aligned in perfect symmetry, which given the way some people normally park, takes a bit of doing.
The signage was in place, the stands ready, the microphones rigged up, yellow jackets swarmed the sprawling complex and those who wanted feeding got fed. It must be said that regardless of how busy they are Irish farmers always make time for events such as this.
All were fastidious in their note taking and the real experts when it comes to farming weren’t slow about posing questions to the scientists and researchers whose mission statement remains the advancement of Irish farming.
