TOWN COUNCILLOR ADMITS TO PACT
Cllr Aileen Pyne, in a frank interview on this week’s Local Election Soapbox in The Avondhu, has admitted that she is one of a group of five forming a pact on Fermoy Town Council.
Speaking to reporter, Joe Leogue, Cllr Pyne said, “I am a member of the five in Fermoy Town Council but that’s the way politics works. I think there is a lot of criticism about ‘five versus four’ but I think it is unfounded.
“In the write-ups from all our local papers they say we’re squabbling but my name has never been mentioned in this squabbling scenario and I think that the council is being wronged in my opinion,” Cllr Pyne claims.
“I believe that at town council meetings there are very worthwhile motions from councillors both within the majority and within the minority that have been supported across the divide.
I think that at times it is projected that I, Aileen Pyne, have never agreed or seconded a motion, be it by Cllr Seamus Coleman, Cllr Power, Cllr Hanley or Cllr Merrigan and the record shows that I have, and have done so often.”.
